EAVE Call for applications

Are you a Palestinian producer/Filmmaker living in Palestine and currently working on a feature fiction or a documentary film project? Seeking to strengthening your skills as a producer/Filmmaker and learn more about the technicalities of the production process?

Filmlab:Palestine announces an open call for Palestinian Filmmakers and producers who are currently working on a feature/fiction or a documentary film project. This is a general call for several workshops and trainings FilmLab is conducting.

EAVE On Demand Workshop

In partnership with EAVE and funded by the British Council, Filmlab: Palestine is conducting a producer’s workshop for Palestinian filmmakers and producers. They will receive a training with experienced producers as the trainers will work to discuss and analyse the projects from particular perspectives– e.g. financial, sales, pitching, script, etc. The group work method is a highly interactive and horizontal approach; the relationship not being one between teacher and pupil, but an exchange between fellow professionals. There will also be sessions on business planning and company management within the group.

Training Purpose

The objective of the workshop is to improve the  participants’ skills in production, co-production, film finance and management, marketing and packaging, script development. They will be confronted with the reality of the international market, also taking into account the local current reality, providing them with the necessary skills in order to succeed on a highly competitive international market.

A maximum of 7-8 projects in development (treatment stage) will be selected in order to be developed further through this workshop.

Location of training: Ramallah.

Training Language: English

Duration of training:    March 26 -30, 2018, followed by SKYPE online feedback session for the participating producers/projects.

Master Classes: the workshop will include meetings for a larger group of professionals who want to attend the open masterclasses.   

After EAVE On Demand workshop, four projects will be selected to continue in other different workshops as described below

EAVE Producer Scholarship

Following this producer’s workshop, one project will be selected to be part of a Producers Workshop – scholarship for Palestinian producers that will take place in 2019.

EAVE in cooperation with FilmLab: Palestine would offer a scholarship to one Palestinian producer to participate in the EAVE PRODUCERS WORSKHOP. EAVE   is aimed at producers, both fiction and documentary, who are already working in the film and television industries who wish to begin to operate on a European wide basis by increasing their knowledge of producing and co-producing in Europe.

The scholarship is divided into 3 workshops: the first two workshops,  participants work within groups led by experienced producers and with several experts on script analysis, development and production financing, legal aspects of co-production, marketing, pitching, packaging and more. In the third workshop, some 60+ Decision Makers (commissioning editors, national and regional media funds, sales agents, etc.) join the participants to discuss the projects, companies and careers of the participants, a process that offers unusual access to Europe's Decision Makers.

Interviews with a pre-selection of candidates will take place in autumn 2018 and the selection will be announced in  December 2018. The three workshops take place during March in Luxembourg (LU), June and October 2019 in different European cities (TBA).

 

CineLink Industry days

Filmlab:Palestine in partnership with Sarajevo Film Festival will provide a chance for two young Palestinian filmmakers to attend Sarajevo Film Festival to participate in the CineLink industry during 10-17 August 2018.

This project creates the possibility for two Palestinian filmmakers to meet with regional and other projects presented at the Cinelink coproduction market, participate at the regional forum conference and participate at relevant Talents Sarajevo master classes and sessions.

 

Berlin Residency

Filmlab Palestine has partnered with the Medienboard in order to offer a 3-month residency in Berlin that will enable one Palestinian filmmaker to live and work in the Berlin capital region.

The residency programme enables one Palestinian film professional to live in Berlin for 3 months so they can develop their project and skills, learn about the film industry in Germany, and meet producers and professionals, in accordance with their profile.
